5 juices to kickstart liver cleanse

The liver is such a big and important organ. It’s actually the second largest organ in the body, second only to the skin. Of course, every organ is important, but there’s something special about the liver. It is involved in over 500 functions! It controls metabolism, the immune system and is responsible for the digestive and detoxification. Not to mention hormones are processed and filtered in the liver. If there is a hormonal imbalance going on in the body, such as excess estrogen, you should probably keep an eye on the liver.

One aspect I am going into more detail is the detox function. The liver has the ability to detox the body naturally, provided that the necessary enzymes and nutrients are available. Often when we consume heavily processed foods, eat a lot of meat and dairy products, drink alcohol, take prescription medication, overexercise, are not getting enough sleep and live in a polluted environment, to name a few, the liver has a hard time “filtering” all the toxins.

When I say toxins, I mean substances that could harm the body. These are metabolic end products, free radicals and heavy metals. The detox process in the liver protects the body from toxicity and cellular damage.

Since spring is coming, it’s the perfect time to give your liver a boost, help it eliminate any “winter waste” and prepare for the season of greens, rebirth and fresh air! Use these 5 amazing recipes.
