It all started when...

We realised there is more to life than cities.

That's the bottom line. We realised we wanted to live in symbiosis with nature, far from the crowds, pollution and coldness of city life. That's when we decided to give up the so called comforts of our life in London, move to rural Romania & create a space that was in line with our personal & spiritual values. In our "previous lives" we were doctors, business & finance professionals with hardly any time to step on our yoga mat once a week or so.

One day, our practice of yoga & meditation literally changed our lives, we became healthier & happier and that's what we ultimately believe everyone can do. Mind, body & soul interconnect, all it's needed is space & time to just relax & be still.

AKASHA came to us as a natural progression, here was a space of unspoiled natural abundance where we can all practice meditation & yoga as an integrated part of daily life & be surrounded by a kind, wonderful community that supports it.

And so, we begun building the concept of AKASHA and like us, it turns out, there are others. Talented yoga instructors, volunteers & community members that all believe in our mission.

LIVE SUSTAINABLY.

BE HEALTHY.

EMBRACE THE SIMPLICITY OF LIFE.

Local Area

Pestera Village & Dracula's Castle in Bran

Our village is called Pestera and it means "The cave" in Romanian,  named after a beautiful bat cave approx 500m from our centre. The Village is part of the National Park of Piatra Craiului, a majestic chain of mountains & forrest valleys that still harbour an abundance of wildlife from bears to mountain goats and more. 7km away is one of the most debated Transylvanian icon, Dracula's castle in Bran. It's an impressive fortified castle with a large heritage & stories to match.

Bucegi Mountains

On a bright clear day we can see the top of the Bucegi Mountains, another main National Park in Romania where you'll find the mystical Romanian Sphinx. If you have time to explore, this is truly one of nature's wonders and worth visiting.

Brasov & Poiana Brasov

The main city of Brasov is just over 30km away, it's a beautiful pretty town set in Hungarian style architecture. Being one of Romania's larger towns and one of the most beautiful in terms of style we recommend browsing the main market and the fortified church. Not to far from it you'll find Poiana Brasov, one of the main skiing resorts in Romania, recently developed you'll be surprised by the quality and sheer size of the sloaps.
